You can’t go wrong with a simple pair of flat front shorts in a color that pops for spring! Colored jeans were all the rage last spring but this year we are hiking up the hemline and ushering in the warm weather with welcoming arms.
You obviously can’t go wrong with a class black, khaki or blue short but why not mix it up and throw in some coral, yellow, electric blue or lime green shorts? Brightly colored bottoms pair surprisingly well with most tops – pink/red and blue are a classic combination, yellow and blue/green complement each other nicely and, when in doubt, you can almost always pair a bold bottom with a neutral navy/black/white/grey top.
There are a TON of different options out there in all different cuts and colors:
- 10″ belted flat front Producer shorts from Express, $59.90 (pictured to the left)
- Lived-in flat front shorts from Gap, $44.95 (these go on sale for $30 all the time!)
- 11″ Stanton short from J.Crew, $64.50
- Eastport shorts from 1901 (Nordstrom), $49.50
I personally own several pars of the Gap lived-in shorts and the Express Producers shorts – the cut is very flattering and the material is soft and comfortable!
Springtime is a time of rebirth and reinvention! Don’t be afraid to take a risk!
